When can I register the Stillbirth?
The stillbirth must be registered within 42 days.
Where can I register the Stillbirth?
- The Register Office, Museum Street, Warrington
This office is open from 9.00am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday

That office will send the details to us and we can then arrange for any documents to be forwarded to you.
Please remember to bring along the certificate issued by the Doctor or Midwife
Who can register the Stillbirth?
If the mother and father are married at the time of the stillbirth, either parent may register the stillbirth.
If the mother and father are not married to each other at the time of the stillbirth, the mother alone may register. If the father’s details are to be included, both parents must be present at the registration. If this is not possible, please telephone the Register Office for advice.
What information will the Registrar need?
- Date and place of stillbirth
- Whether the baby was a boy or girl
- If you have chosen a name, this can be included.
- Mother:- Full name, date and place of birth and occupation
- Date of marriage (if applicable).
- Number of previous births
- Father: (If his details are to be included):- Full name, date and place of birth and occupation
Certificates – After the registration has been completed you will be given a free short certificate and a form to enable the funeral arrangements to be made. Further standard certificates can be purchased, if required.
