Purchasing Birth, Marriage or Death Certificates
The original registers for all births, deaths and marriages occurring in the Warrington area since 1837 are stored at this office. Certificates can be purchased on payment of the appropriate fee.
By post
If you are applying by post please enclose a cheque or postal order made payable to "Warrington Borough Council", together with a stamped addressed envelope and the necessary details.
In person
Anyone can apply in person at the office by completing the application form and leaving the appropriate fee. You will be advised when applying of when the certificate will be ready for collection. You can pay by cheque (accompanied by a cheque guarantee card), in cash or by debit/credit card.
Information needed to find the entry
Birth entries:
- Full name of the person
- Date and place of birth
- Parents' names with mothers maiden (if known)
Cost of certificate:
Short birth certificate: £5.50
Standard (includes parent(s) details): £7.00

- The deceased's full name
- Date and place of death
- Age or date of birth
Cost of certificate: £7.00

Marriage entries:
- Date and place of marriage i.e. Church, Register Office or Approved Premises
- Full names of parties at the time of their marriage
- Any other names the parties had used prior to the marriage
