Caravan Sites

Caravan site operators must hold a valid site licence.  Before a caravan site can be licensed, planning permission is required.  Please contact us for licensing, inspection, advice and enforcement issues.

Site licenses identify owners and their site management and maintenance responsibilities.  These include:

  • Providing fire precautions and adequate amenities
  • Controlling the number of caravans on the site
  • Distance between and positioning of caravans
  • Providing adequate drainage and water supplies
  • Providing adequate electric and gas mains supplies

There are exempt sites in the Borough.  These include travelling show persons sites and temporary sites occupied by agricultural, engineering, forestry and construction workers.

To obtain a site license the operator must first obtain appropriate planning permission to use their land  for this purpose.  They can then make an application for a site licence to the Local Authority.  Only when the Local Authority is satisfied that the applicant has the appropriate planning permission and the site is up to the required standard will a license be issued.

How to Apply

Step 1
Print off and complete the application before returning.  Before submitting your application please ensure that planning permission has already been given.

Step 2
When you consider that conditions have been met, send your application to Marjorie Jackson, Trading Standards, Palmyra House, Palmyra Square North, Warrington, WA1 1JN.

Step 3
After inspections are completed you will be informed of any further works required to achieve compliance.

Step 4
Once full compliance is achieved, a licence will be issued within 10 working days unless there are reasons of non-compliance for not doing so.

We look forward to receiving your application and if you require further information or assistance, please contact John Williams on 01925 442579 or email jwilliams@warrington.gov.uk
