Pet Shop Licensing

 

Under the Pet Animals Act 1951, Environmental Health undertakes the licensing of pet shops within the Borough of Warrington.

How to Apply

In order to make a new application for a Pet Shop Licence, you must follow Steps 1- 4. For renewals, from Step 2

Step 1

Print off the Standard Licensing Conditions and ensure that the premises comply with the conditions. Before starting any building work, contact Environmental Health on 01925 442579 to discuss your plans.  

Please note: you may also require planning permission and/or building control approval.

Step 2

When you consider that conditions have been met, print off and complete an application form and send, with the appropriate fees to Marjorie Jackson, Trading Standards, Palmyra House, Palmyra Square North, Warrington, WA1 1JN.  Cheques should be made payable to 'Warrington Borough Council'.

Step 3

Contact Environmental Health on 01925 442579 to arrange an inspection.  After inspection you will be informed of any further works required to achieve compliance. 

Step 4

Complete any works necessary to comply with the conditions.

On receipt of the form and fee, a licence will be issued within 10 working days unless there are reasons of non-compliance for not doing so.
