Riding Establishments

Under the Riding Establishments Act 1964 and 1970, Environmental Health undertakes the licensing of riding establishments within the borough of Warrington.

How to apply

In order to make a new application for a Riding Establishment, you must follow steps 1- 4. For renewals, from step 2:-

Step 1

Print off the appropriate Standard Licensing Conditions and ensure that the premises comply with the conditions. Before starting any building work, contact Environmental Health on 01925 442579 to discuss your plans.

Please note: you may also require
planning permission and/or building control approval.

Step 2

When you consider that conditions have been met, print off and complete an application form and send to Marjorie Jackson, Trading Standards, Palmyra House, Palmyra Square North, Warrington, WA1 1JN.  Environmental Health will contact you to arrange a veterinary inspection of the premises and animals and a visit by the Fire Prevention Officer of Cheshire Fire Brigade.

Step 3

After inspections are completed you will be informed of any further works required to achieve compliance, and the amount payable for the veterinary inspection and licence fees.

Step 4

Ensure the premises comply with the conditions, submit the fees payable by post or in person.  Cheques should be made payable to Warrington Borough Council.

On receipt of the fee, a licence will be issued within 10 working days unless there are reasons of non-compliance for not doing so.

If further work is required for compliance, once this is completed satisfactorily, the licence will be issued.

We look forward to receiving your application and if you require further information or assistance, please contact John Williams on 01925 442579 or email jwilliams@warrington.gov.uk
