Licensing
The documents contained within these pages are not legal documents and are designed merely to assist you. Therefore the Council & Licensing Authority are not liable. If you require any legal advice on any aspects of Licensing legislation, it is suggested that you contact an independent legal advisor.
The Licensing section is responsible for providing an efficient and cost effective service for the authority and for its clients. In doing so, the objective is to maintain and improve the standards of public safety in aspects of licensed premises, persons. This is achieved by the balanced use of enforcement and education in relation to the appropriate legislation. Specific issues dealt with by Licensing are listed below.
Enforcement work is undertaken and in-performance visits are carried out without prior notification. Day time visits are also without prior notification, but pre-arranged visits can be organised where a Premise Licence Holder or DPS requires assistance and/or help and advice.
The section has a close working relationship with the police, fire authority and other officers of the council. Joint inspections help ensure that public safety is maintained.
EU Services Directive The EU Services Directive aims to break down barriers to cross border trade in services between countries in the EU. It will make it easier for service providers, particularly small and medium sized enterprises, to offer their services to customers in other EU countries, whether establishing elsewhere in the EU or providing services remotely from the UK. We have now introduced a business portal for you to apply and submit your licensing applications online. |
