Getting married in Warrington
A legal Notice of Marriage
A legal Notice of Marriage must be completed by both the bride and groom to the Superintendent Registrar of the district in which you have lived for at least the previous seven days.
If you both live in Warrington your Notices will be given at Warrington Register Office. You can attend together or separately. Please telephone the Register Office to make an appointment on 01925 442762.
If you live in different districts then the Notices will be given in two separate areas.
After giving Notice you must wait a further 15 clear days before the marriage can take place (i.e. if notice is given on 1 July the marriage can take place on or after 17 July).
Notice/s can be given up to 12 months before the date of your wedding.
Documents you will need to produce:
- Your passport or
- Birth certificate plus driving licence, utility bill, rent book or council tax document
If you have been married before:
- Your decree absolute, or if you have been widowed the death certificate of your husband or wife
- Deed poll document if you have formally changed your name
Important points to note
Notice cannot be given by anyone else other than the bride and groom. If you are under 18 years old you may need the consent of your parents before you can be married. (Please telephone the Register Office for further information).
