Licensing
The Licensing section is responsible for providing an efficient and cost effective service for the authority and for its clients. In doing so, the objective is to maintain and improve the standards of public safety in aspects of licensed premises, persons. This is achieved by the balanced use of enforcement and education in relation to the appropriate legislation. Specific issues dealt with by Licensing are listed below.
Enforcement work is undertaken and in-performance visits are carried out without prior notification. Day time visits are also without prior notification, but pre-arranged visits can be organised where a Premise Licence Holder or DPS requires assistance and/or help and advice.
The section has a close working relationship with the police, fire authority and other officers of the council. Joint inspections help ensure that public safety is maintained.
If you wish to personally see a member of the Licensing team, an appointment must be made by contacting us. Please be aware appointments are available between the hours of 9.00am and 4.30pm.
