Crèches
A crèche provides occasional care for children under the age of eight.
There are permanent crèches in places like shopping, education and sports centres, and temporary ones which can be set up while parents are in a conference or at an exhibition, for example. The facility is only called a crèche when it is open more than two hours a day, five days a year.
All crèches must be registered with Ofsted.
Safety checks
Ofsted will check that the crèche is safe and secure and that the staff are suitable to look after children. This check is repeated every year.
Staff
There must be a set number of staff depending on the number of children being looked after. For more details, please contact our Childcare Standards Officer on 01925 443169.
