Race Equality Scheme

 

We have recently reviewed our Race Equality Scheme, and have produced a revised Scheme. This new scheme for 2007 – 2010 reflects changes in legislation, changes within the Council since 2003, and reaffirms the council’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all groups with the community.

The intention is that this Race Equality Scheme will guide the council in meeting our duty to ensure that racial equality is central to the council’s working practices, to ensure that appropriate consideration is given when making policy, in delivering services, and when fulfilling our role as an employer. 

The implementation of the Race Equality will:

  • Ensure all racial groups are satisfied with council services
  • Ensure that none of the council’s policies or functions have a negative impact on any racial group

This scheme will be reviewed annually by the council and will be subject to consultation with stakeholders and the community.
