Reduce and reuse
How to reduce waste
The best way to manage your waste is to follow the 3 'R's rule - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

We can all help reduce waste by trying to buy products with less packaging and reducing the amount of food waste we create. You can also do the following:
- Opt out of doorstep junk mail by visiting the Mailing Preference Services website
- Reduce waste by using cotton nappies rather than disposables
- Visit our Love Food, Hate Waste pages on our web site for help and tips
- Home compost - discounted compost bins avaliable.

Many things can be reused from old furniture to clothing. Many of the bulky items collected through our collection scheme are reused. You can donate old clothes and shoes to charity shops or put them in clothing banks. Also remember to take your bags for life when you go shopping.
For a free bag for life you can email your contact details to: nsdwasteteam@warrington.gov.uk
Reuse Network websites
There is no need to throw away your unwanted items, offer them free to someone who may use it again!
There are a number of reuse network websites of which the two below have Warrington pages:
Freegle stands for Free Giving, Locally, Easily. Warrington Freegle matches local people who have things they want to get rid of with local people who can use them - keeping usable items out of landfill.
When you want to find a new home for something - whether it's a chair, a fridge, a piano, or an old door - you simply send an email offering it to members of the local Freegle group. If you're in need of something, you can post a request.
Visit Warrington Freegle: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/WarringtonFreegle/
Another popular site is the Freecycle reuse network website.
Finally if you cannot reduce or reuse any more of your waste try reducing the amount of waste we send to landfill by recycling as much as possible and this helps save energy and resources. To find out more on recycling in Warrington visit the waste management home page.
