Housing benefit

Housing benefit can be paid if you are on a low income and need help to pay all or part of your rent. 

Your rent can be payable to the council (Golden Gates Housing), a housing association or private landlord. You may be able to get housing benefit if you are on other benefits, work part-time or full-time on a low income. The amount you receive and how we pay it will depend on your circumstances.
