Alcohol Designatory Orders
The council agreed in principle at its meeting on Monday 29 October on a borough wide alcohol designation order.
The aim of such an order is to set out areas where the police, under the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 (amended 2007), can confiscate alcohol from members of the public if they believe it is necessary e.g their actions are deemed as being anti social or disruptive in a public place.
And residents are being invited to have their say about how this is achieved.
The council has published its proposals and there is a consultation period between 1 and 28 November, during which the public and interested parties including parish councils, any area that shares a boundary with a proposed designation area, and licensed premises can view the areas included, express their views and also suggest new areas they feel should be included.
