Recommendations of the Independent Remuneration Panel

Before making any change to its Scheme of Members' Allowances, the Council must seek (and take into account) the recommendations of an Independent Remuneration Panel.  In 2006-07, the Council adopted, in full, the scheme recommended to it by the panel.  In subsequent years, the panel has made further recommendations to the Council about revisions to the scheme.

Warrington Borough Council is required to publicise its scheme of allowances payable to elected members for the forthcoming year.  The Council in 2008-09 considered and noted the recommendations from an Independent Remuneration Panel, but decided to adopt the previous 2007-08 sScheme, subject to some increases in rates and other minor alterations.

The following Scheme of Members' Allowances  was adopted by Warrington Borough Council on 19 May 2008 and is now available online for viewing.

Payment of Allowances for 2007-08

The Council is required to publish, as soon as practicable after the end of the year concerned, a list showing the amounts of expenses paid to councillors.
