Appealing against your council tax banding or rateable value

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is an executive agency of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).  It is their responsibility to compile and maintain the business rating and council tax valuation lists for England and Wales, by valuing domestic properties for a Band Value or Non-Domestic properties for a Rateable Value.

If you disagree with the Band Value or Rateable Value allocated to your property by the VOA, you should appeal to them at:

Valuation Office Agency, 72 Church Street, Liverpool L1 3AY
Tel:  0151 802 1000

Please quote your council tax property reference shown on your bill on any correspondence with the Valuation Office.

You can also find further information on their website.

Please note that making an appeal does not allow you to withhold payment of any council tax or Business Rates owing in the meantime.
