Council tax

Council tax is a way of raising money to help pay for services the council provides.  These include for example, education, social services, libraries, refuse collection, street lighting and leisure.

  • Council Tax is based on the value of a property
  • All homes are subject to council tax, including flats and houses which are rented or owned and whether they are lived in or not

A council tax bill is sent to each domestic property. The bill can be reduced for people who live on their own and for people with disabilities. Information on how to apply can be found on the reductions and benefits section.

Warrington Borough Council has many easy and convenient ways to pay your council tax.  Information can be found in the how and where to pay section.

Please note, it is essential that your monthly instalments are paid on or before the due date shown on your bill, this will avoid having reminders and final notices being sent to you.
