Council tax valuation bands

Every domestic property in Warrington is shown in the valuation list in one of eight valuation bands.

The band of your property is based on the market value of your home on 1 April 1991.

There are eight bands labelled 'A' to 'H'. Band A is the lowest and Band H is the highest. The table below shows the council tax bands and the property values they come under:

Band

Range of Values

Band D Ratio

A£40,000 and under 6/9ths
B£40,001 - £52,000 7/9ths
C£52,001 - £68,000 8/9ths

The council does not band your property. This is done by the government's Valuation Office

If you disagree with your property's valuation band, you can appeal in writing to the Valuation Office.

Your appeal should be sent to the following address and not the council:

The Listing Officer
Valuation Office
72 Church Street
Liverpool,
L1 3AY
Telephone: 0151 802 1000
Fax (0151) 802 1099
Email: liverpoolgroup@voa.gsi.gov.uk
Website: www.voa.gov.uk

Please quote your council tax account number (shown on your council tax bill) on any correspondence with the Valuation Office.

Please note that if you have made an appeal you must still pay in line with your current council tax bill while awaiting the result of your valuation appeal.

Any overpayment of council tax will be refunded.
