Is it safe to make credit/debit card payments online?
Yes, it is safe to pay credit/debit card over the internet. The information you send to Warrington Borough Council is encrypted. This means that nobody can read it as it travels across the internet.

We will receive your credit details using a secure server. This means the transaction is encrypted between your machine and the authority’s server. 

Ordinary website addresses begin "http://" – the address for a secure site will always begin with "https://".

Once your credit/debit card details have been submitted to us and your credit/debit card company has approved the payment, the payment will be processed.

What happens once I’ve provided my credit/debit card details?
Once you have sent us your credit/debit card details, and the payment has been approved, your account will be debited within two  working days.

What services am I able to pay for online?
Initially you will be able to pay your housing rent, council tax, business rates, sundry invoices, housing benefit overpayments and social services invoices. In time, further payment options will be introduced such as car park fines, library charges etc…

Which cards do you accept?
You can pay by using Visa, Mastercard, Visa Delta, Switch or Solo. We do not accept Electron, American Express or Diners Club cards. 

Please also note that we are only able to accept housing rent or council tax payments by Debit Card Only.

What if my card is refused?
Warrington Borough Council does not refuse cards, but your bank or building society may refuse payment to us. If this occurs you must contact your bank or building society directly.
