How and Where to Pay

 

Warrington Borough Council accept payment for council tax, business rates and other council services including:

  • Inspection/Building Regulation Fees
  • Social Services Residential/Home Care Charges
  • Rent of Land/Garage Charges

Council Offices

By cheque. Post dated cheques are not accepted. Cheques should be made payable to Warrington Borough Council and crossed A/C payee. Your account or reference number should be written on the back of your cheque.

Online

An online payments facility is available on the Council's website which allows users to pay their Council bills. 

Allpay

Allpay is a swipe card facility, which allows you to make payments in more than 60 locations across Warrington. 

The methods of payment that can be used at the different types of outlets are: -

Post Office
Cash, cheque and debit card

e-pay

Cash - some individual e-pay outlets also accept debit and credit cards.

If you wish to pay by this method, please contact the Revenues & Benefits Service, either by phone, email or in writing, to arrange for a card to be issued to you. 

Paypoint

From October 24th 2007 customers will be able to make payments with their allpay.net swipe card in over 18,000 outlets across the UK using the PayPoint network by cash or debit card.  To find your nearest outlet please click on the link below: -

Direct Debit

Pay your council tax or business rates by direct debit – there are no cheques to write, no paperwork or postage and there is no queuing. It is easy to set up a direct debit online or complete the direct debit instruction PDF Logo print it out and return it to Warrington Borough Council Revenues Division.

  • Direct debit payments are claimed on either 5th, 10th, 20th or 30th of the month.
  • Payments can be spread over 10 or 12 months
  • Yearly or half yearly payments can also be arranged.                 

As soon as your completed direct debit instruction is received, your instalments will be collected by direct debit on the next available date.

Post Office

In cash or by cheque.  Post dated cheques are not accepted. 

Please take the invoice to any Post Office, please note that the Post Office may charge for the service. 

Please make cheques payable to "Post Office Ltd" and crossed "A/C Payee". Warrington Borough Council’s Giro Number is 6119131. 

Please quote the invoice number.

Bank
 
By cash or by cheque. 
Post dated cheques are not accepted.

Please take the invoice to any bank. Some banks may charge a fee.

Please make the cheque payable to "Warrington Borough Council".

Please quote the invoice number, the Council’s bank, National Westminster Bank (sort code 01-09-17) and account number 03383385.

By Post

Please detach the payment slip or quote the invoice number and send your payment slip and cheque to Warrington Borough Council, PO Box 13, 21 Rylands Street, Warrington WA1 1BN.

Please make cheques payable to "Warrington Borough Council" and crossed A/C payee.

Please note that no receipt will be issued unless a stamped addressed envelope is enclosed with the payment. Post dated cheques are not accepted.

Please do not send cash through the post.

Girobank Transfer

This method is only available if you have a Girobank account.

Enter your Girobank account number in the space provided on the Transcash form on the front of the invoice and then send the completed pay slip by post to:

By Telephone

Have your invoice and an appropriate debit/credit card to hand then choose one of the following methods:

  • Automated
    This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  All calls are charged at local rates.  
    Simply call (01925) 454345 and follow the instructions.
  • Operator Assisted
    This service is available from Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 5:00pm.  For numbers and more information please visit the telephone payments page.                

Please note that for some funds there is a minimum payment of £5.
