The Sustainable Community Strategy and the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework
Warrington Partnership, a grouping of public, private and voluntary sector organisations, is preparing the borough’s Sustainable Community Strategy. This document will set out a vision of Warrington, together with a list of priorities that all partners can work towards. It will also provide an action plan identifying the main areas we need to look at together to make Warrington the kind of place everyone wants it to be.
At the same time, the council is reviewing its own planning strategy to make sure that it links in with the Sustainable Community Strategy and that our planning aims and objectives contribute to achieving our vision and ambitions. This will result in the publication of the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework, which will replace parts of the current Unitary Development Plan.
To set the ball rolling, the council and Warrington Partnership have produced some key facts and information which describe what Warrington is like today - a ‘portrait’ of the borough.
Building on this information, we would like to know what sort of a place you think Warrington should be in 15 to 20 years time. More specifically we would like to know what issues you think should be considered to make Warrington, and especially the area where you live or work, a better place.
This is the first step in producing these important strategies. Any comments submitted will form the basis of forthcoming discussions, and an interim report on responses received to date will be published in December. There will also be opportunities to get involved in the process at future stages.

Borough Portrait Consultation Report
A report has now been produced that sets out the representations received during the Borough Portrait Consultation. In line with the general nature of the consultation undertaken, the report simply summarises comments made and issues raised. The comments have been grouped according to the chapter headings used in the Borough Portrait, and then further arranged according to specific subjects.
All responses received by the end of November have been included in this report. Responses received after this date will not appear in the report, but will be taken into account and reported as consultation continues to take place in connection with identifying key local issues as the next stages move forward.
