BIG plans for Orford Library

There are some new exciting plans for Orford Library thanks to BIG (Big Lottery Fund). As part of their Communities Libraries Programme they have made a grant offer of £1.3 million. What do we plan to do with the money? We intend to open a new library as part of the Orford Park Community Sports Hub.

We want to create the kind of library that local people want. To do this we intend to involve you every step of the way. This means helping us to plan and design the new library and provide activities and services that local people want. We want local people to be involved in making decisions about their library so we will invite members of the community to be part of a Community Management Board.

The Community Management Board will make decisions about how the money we receive from BIG will be spent. They will agree what activities will be provided and the layout of the new library.

There will also be lots of opportunities for people to be involved by volunteering. This could find you being trained to buy new books for the library, reading stories to young children or promoting the new library to others out in the community. Anything really – the sky’s the limit! It’s up to you to tell us how you want to help.
