Children's Centres

Reading is fun for everyone

Books play an important part in a child's early development.  It's not just about reading - in fact you don't have to be a great reader yourself.  Looking at pictures, making up stories and singing rhymes are all a great way to bring stories to life and make learning fun.

Just 5 minutes a day reading with your child or singing a rhyme will give them confidence and enjoyment of learning.  It improves their literacy skills and prepares them for their early education, but it also creates a special bond with the person they share these experiences with.

Family Reading Workers, based at Dallam, Sandy Lane, The Orchard and Westy, provide story and rhymetime sessions at all of the children's centres. They offer fun, friendly sessions for the whole family to enjoy.

Please check individual centres for what’s on offer or telephone Miranda on 01925 425580 or 0782 725 8032
