People & Nature
Wildlife provides pleasure, inspiration and an escape from the built environment. These benefits can be gained at a range of levels, from the subconscious appreciation of the natural environment while walking in our parks, to the study of natural history by school children, or the active management of our nature reserves by volunteers.
People want to live, work and play close to nature. The image of an area can be improved by the retention of established natural features and creation of new ones; leading to enriched quality of life and enhanced economic benefits.
Our parks and countryside are there for everyone to enjoy but please remember the Country Code and respect its wildlife and those who work there. Take your litter home, keep your dog under control and clean up after it, and keep to public footpaths across farmland.
Health in the Community
The natural environment is good for our physical and mental health. Trees and shrubs act as excellent filters cleaning the air of toxic gases and dust. Access to our parks and open spaces provides the opportunity to exercise. even just a view of trees or the countryside is known to improve our state of mind and relieve stress.
Education
Access to nature stimulates interest and awareness of the wider environment and issues that influence it. Increased awareness helps to promote a more caring and responsible attitude to the need to preserve our declining wildlife habitats.
