(1) From Culcheth Linear Park Car Park and Ranger Cabin follow the main entrance drive to Wigshaw Lane, cross and get on the No. 1 9 bus at the bus stop by Pendel Gardens (2), taking the bus to the Winwick Hospital stop by the new B&Q (3).
Walk under the footbridge and then right following the tarmac lane past the social club and straight on by a hedge and into the field beyond. Carry straight on by the hedge following it round a right corner. Just after the corner turn left, straight across a field heading for a footpath sign on the other side (4).
At the sign turn right following the track and obvious path forking right to cross the motorway (M56) via the footbridge. Once over the bridge turn left to an orange gas main post, fork right heading to the right of a cream building (Peal Hall) (5). This eventually leads to a wood/concrete fence and a track. Follow the track past the farm and eventually along a tarmac road (Radley Lane) past Peal Cottage. At the ‘T’ junction turn right then left along a path by the pub (The Plough) (6) following a concrete fence towards the motorway. Go up some steps and onto Delph Lane to re-cross the motorway. After 200m turn right through a steel barrier (7) following a dog legged track to a kissing gate. Turn right around the corner of Delph Pool (8) then over the obvious style and through a tunnel under the motorway (M62).
Once through follow the footpath signs over the motorway bridge following the main farm track towards a white cottage (9). At the road junction turn left following Dam Lane all the way to Smithy Brow. Turn right then once around the ‘S’ bend and past Cockshot Farm turn left at a footpath sign and by a hedge and ditch (10).
Follow the ditch edge to a crossing point and continue along the ditch on the other side passing 3 tall oak trees. 50m past the last tall oak tree turn right following a path between 2 fields on the left of a low bank passing a cream farm house (11) and on to Heath Lane. Turn right past the General Elliot pub and right along Lord Street. Turn left down Abby Close then left again beside No.1 at a footpath sign along Old Green Lane to the end. Cross the field directly passing (12) a pond and tall willow trees in the middle of the field on the left, then head for a style in the middle of a gappy hedge then straight on over another style to join Lady Lane.
Turn left, then right after a bungalow (13) following the hedge. After crossing a ditch by a culvert/bridge (14) carry straight on across the field aiming for a footpath sign.
At the sign turn left by the field edge ignoring a footpath on the right passing a redundant stile. Continue along the fence line and field edge to eventually reach Glaziers Lane (15). Turn left then right when Wigshaw Lane is reached — after 100m you can cross and return to the Ranger Cabin and car park via a pinch gap and ramped path.
