With your back to the Ranger Centre turn right and follow the main track to the first steps on the left. Turn left up the steps and over the stile following the field edge to Blakley Farm. At Blakley Farm follow the sign to Heath Lane across the yard and between 2 barns, follow the path behind the furthest barn then over a stile. Follow the field edge by a ditch on the left. At the path “T” junction turn right then left at the first stile past a farm via a short detour round a pond to the track. Turn left following the track to Heath Lane then turn right following the pavement where possible past The Plough Inn.
Continue along Heath Lane which becomes Stone Pit Lane then Sandy Brow Lane. At the junction with the main road turn left following the verge after 500m turn right along a concrete track to Parkside Farm. Once the road is reached turn right, then after 300m right again down a track towards Highfield Farm, at the corner carry straight on by path across a field to the railway line and Highfield Moss. Follow either the railway edge path of the Moss or walk around the edge (see map). Both routes lead eventually over mounds by gorse bushes to a small wood. Keep to the top path by the fence which eventually crosses the railway by a pedestrian level crossing. Follow the obvious path by a ditch, until a bridge is reached, turn right over the bridge following the fence over stiles to the road. Cross the road turning right, after re-crossing the railway at Dollys Bridge turn left into a lay by. Cross the field heading straight for a large red brick house until the hedge is reached. Go through the hedge gap and turn right following the hedge (on the right) for 150m then turn left across the field past a pond with 2 trees heading straight for a telegraph poll. Cross a track and over a stile then straight across this field past a telegraph poll then by the right of a hedge to a small copse by a stream. Turn left following the stream past the pumphouse to the road. Turn right then after 20m cross the road and along a path by the ditch. Follow the path past a pond on the right then across a field by footpath signs to join a track. Continue along the track past a tall hedge. At the point where the track turns sharp left carry straight on passing trees to the right, follow the field edge by the ditch over a low bridge and eventually to the park turn right to return to Ranger Cabin.
