With your back to the Ranger Cabin (1) turn right following the park until you pass under the Farm Bridge. 250 m past the bridge turn right onto the footpath crossing the field then following the path through the beech trees around the edge of the golf course.
After 200 m the path becomes over grown, (2) follow the trees to the left by the edge of the golf course, past ponds to the right, to rejoin the path properly in 100 m. Turn left at Brosley Avenue then right at Common Lane and left again down Twiss Green Lane. Shortly Twiss Green Lane bends sharp right, (3) turn left then right by footpath sign along a track through the farm yard until a barn is reached. Turn right following footpath signs along the field boundary to the stream. Turn left following the path to the side of the stream, ignoring the first bridge (wooden) over a stile and ignoring a second bridge (stone), cross the stream at the 3rd bridge by the lightning struck tree turning left following the track under the railway. (4) Follow the path across a field and then to the left of a tall hedge to a footpath sign, turn right across the field passing ponds to the right and following footpath arrows over a blue bridge to meet another path. Turn right following the field edge to meet a path crossroads. Carry straight on by the side of the hedge to meet a track junction,(5) turn right following the track and footpath arrows to the farm then Warrington Road and try the Foresters Arms Pub. Turn left, then after 60 m turn right down Jennets Lane past the pumping station. (6) Once over the River Glaze turn right count the telegraph posts 2 left 11 right then turn right by a stile crossing the field, aiming for the left of a large Beech tree by a gap in the hedge. Carry straight past the hedge to the right, through a dip and up through young trees to a stile. Go over the stile and to the end of the obvious hedge. Cross the field directly heading for a signal on the distant railway. (7) At the railway turn right until the track is reached. Turn left under the railway and along the cobbled road past Light Oaks Hall.
At the end of the cobbles and at a left bend, carry straight on over a stile following the fence then straight across the field to a bridge. (8) Carry straight across following the footpath sign along a track past a brick bungalow and an old barn following a track between fields, this then joins a semi—surfaced path. Continue for 30 m then follow the ditch side past newly planted trees, turning right by a footpath sign and over a wooden bridge, turn right following the ditch and right again at the River Glaze. Shortly after crossing the ditch and at the river bend apex follow the track up towards the farm. (9) At the farm yard turn left following the main track past the hall taking the 2nd track on the left to a white house over a stile and straight across aiming for just right of trees that stand out from the woodland edge. The path at this point is difficult to find. Walk down the woody muddy slope to cross a stream by a rickety bridge and up towards the motorway fence. Turn left and head for the bridge to cross the motorway. (10) Following the track to the farm just before the farm house, cross a stile and follow the cobbled track that crosses a road, then over another stile by the hedge, carry straight on and over another stile to the edge of a long field with horses. Go through a kissing gate and carry straight on to the left of a bank following the obvious footpath to the track. Follow it under the railway to the bus terminus, (11) then turn right across the field to rejoin the River Glaze then left by the edge of the field crossing the river at a green bridge. Carry straight on to join Glazebrook Lane. Cross and follow the path over Glazebrooks new green then left onto Bank Street eventually passing Vetch Close. Alter 120 m turn left by footpath sign, (12) following the field edge turn right by the sign at the corner. Follow the field edge to next footpath sign turn left, then cross directly aiming for the stile, go over then turn left, then right across the field and over a bridge and field to School Lane. Turn right, carry straight on at the corner of Dam Head Lane (13) passing several farms and over a railway bridge fork left, then left again at Millverton Farm following the now cinder path, past Hoyes Moss and New Hall Farms, (14) and eventually to the motorway round-a-bout. (15) Cross the motorway and follow footpath arrows down steps and by a ditch follow yellow arrows to the side of the ditch to a stile. Follow the fence to the left, meeting a stile turn left following the ditch once more. Ignore the footpath by the wire fence and continue along the stream edge turning left by the wooden bridge, shortly crossing the ditch by a footpath sign hidden in a tree, (16) follow the ditch to your left. When the ditch stops, turn right following the
path between the 2 fields to meet a track. Turn left following the track towards the farm then turn right and walk over the old railway bridge. (17) turn left down the ‘steps and carry straight on along the old railway line. After a short way you will return to Culcheth Linear Park Ranger Cabin.
