Plough the Field and Saunter - 3 miles

Culcheth Linear Park

With your back to the Ranger Cabin (1) turn right following the park until you pass under the farm bridge. After 250m you will arrive at a footpath that crosses the park (2), turn left. Follow the path across the field and by a ditch until you meet a track and path crossroads. Join the track and carry straight on passing part of an old tall hedge (3) on your right. Follow the track to a fork (4) taking the left path, which will eventually lead by a ditch to Kenyon Lane (5). Cross and turn left following the pavement to Heath Lane and The Plough Inn (6). Cross Heath Lane turning left following the pavement round a right hand bend. At the 4th lamppost turn left crossing the road (7). Continue along the farm track marked with a green footpath sign. The track passes a mock Tudor cottage (8) on the left to arrive at Hill Top Farm (9). The right of way passes in front of the farm but a more scenic route turns right just before the house and takes you around a pond, then turn left keeping to the hedge and over a style into a field. Keep left to join a path ‘T’ junction. Turn right over another style keeping to the field edge by the hedge. At a break in the hedge and next to a footpath sign (10) turn left following the ditch towards Blakely Farm. The path follows the side of a barn and into the farm yard (11). Follow the footpath sign to Culcheth Linear Park ignoring the farm track and footpath sign to the right.
Our route takes us past two newer barns and over a style next to a metal gate. Carry straight on keeping to the field edge to arrive at the park via a style (12). Continue down the steps turning right at the bottom to return to the Ranger Cabin and car park.
