From the leisure centre car park return to Myddleton Lane and turn left. At the T-junction turn right then immediately left along Church Walk. Turn right and follow Newton Road, once past Green Lane cross the road. Follow the footpath sign along ladies walk between trees keeping to the field boundary passing two wooden pylons and onto Alder Lane. Turn right following the pavement past Hollins Park and Watery Lane on the left and Alder Root golf course on the right. Once over the railway turn left down steps and under the bridge, following the obvious surfaced path. After crossing Newton Brook the Old Sankey Canal bends to the right, on the corner turn left along the field path over Sankey Brook, then right following the lane. Just before a farm on the right turn left at a sign following the obvious farm track, then a path to the right of a ditch, a line of trees, and finally, a wooden fence to join Alder Lane. Turn right just before a garden hedge on the left, turn left along an unobvious path between two fields and later to the left of a ditch. At the ditch end directly cross the field at a footpath post to a similar post opposite then on to a junction with a farm track at a sign, keep straight on ignoring the track to the right. Keep left following the obvious track around ‘S’ bends and eventually to a footpath T-junction and signpost. Turn right keeping to the field edge walking past a manhole, two dead hedgerow trees and a pylon to Old Alder Lane. Turn right, re-cross Sankey Brook continuing along the road past Sankey Valley Park and over the railway. Turn right along Mill Lane then left, immediately before the motorway bridge, continuing along Mill Lane eventually arriving at the B & Q roundabout. Turn left following Warrington Road past Winwick Park, crossing Warrington Road at the pelican crossing. Continue until you can turn right down Rectory Lane, at the bollard, turn left up steps and onto the leisure centre rear car park.
