Have you heard of the Duke of Edinburgh’s award? Want to know more?
Then come along to Walton Hall Gardens on Friday 1 August, 10.00am – 4.00pm to find out how you can get involved.
The event is being run by Warrington Youth Support Service and they will be on hand to answer your questions.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is open to all young people aged 14-25 years old.
The scheme encourages young people to:
- take part in voluntary service which will benefit the community, such as first aid, the fire service, environmental work, fundraising, animal welfare, working with the elderly
- discover and develop practical and social skills and personal interests, such as learning to drive, reading, journalism, arts & crafts, singing, film studies, drama
- get involved in a physical activity such as swimming, horse riding, football, rugby, dance, athletics
- complete an expedition, which should take place in the countryside or on water, by foot, cycle, horse, canoe, boat or dinghy.
The award is an excellent opportunity for young people to make new friends and learn new skills.
Everyone is welcome on the day, however please be aware that there is a car parking charge at Walton Hall Gardens.
