Residents parking

A new resident’s parking scheme has recently been introduced on the streets directly opposite Warrington Hospital.

Streets covered by the permit parking scheme are Radnor Street, Brighton Street, Grafton Street, Ripley Street, Wellfield Street, Wardour Street, Windsor Street and Lexden Street.

Signs are displayed on the entry and exit points of Radnor Street and Lexden Street, the only access to this network of streets.

Motorists in possession of a permit for this area may park on any street within the scheme.

The reasons why the council has introduced the scheme in this area is to:

  • make it easier for residents and their visitors to park
  • stop the blocking of private accesses
  • eliminate uncontrolled parking
  • deter all day commuter parking
  • enhance road safety

Cllr Alan Litton, Executive Board member for environment services said; “The scheme was developed and introduced following extensive consultation with local residents and ward members, it has been welcomed and supported well.

“Although it has been developed to assist local residents, all businesses located within the area have also been issued with parking permits for customer use.  “

The provision of parking facilities for Warrington Hospital is primarily the responsibility of the hospital and all concerns regarding this issue should, in the first instance, be directed to the hospital.
