Celebration of peace
Celebration of peace
WARRINGTON town centre will host a remembrance event at midday on Thursday 20 March to mark the 15th anniversary of the Warrington bombing.
Past and present town leaders and representatives from organisations in the town will come together and join the community in paying tribute to those who lost their lives in a flower laying service at the scene in Bridge Street.
This will be a time to reflect, to give thanks to everyone in Warrington who has been involved in helping to rebuild the town and is also a celebration of peace.
The Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Celia Jordan, will speak on behalf of all those attending before various representatives will lay flowers.
Guests are then invited back to the town hall for light refreshments.
Cllr Ian Marks, leader of the council, says: “Warrington is united in its thoughts and prayers as we reflect on the events of 15 years ago and pay tribute to those who lost their lives and were deeply affected.
“You may be able to join us in the town centre or pay your respects from home or at work.
“Wherever you are, I am sure that everyone in Warrington will join us in taking a few moments from our busy lives to give thanks to all the work that has been carried out in the town to help rebuild the Warrington community, to forge relationships and to celebrate peaceful times.
