Council wins Beacon Status
Warrington is among the best in the country when it comes to providing Dignity in Care.
Our achievements have been recognised with the award of national Beacon status, announced by Communities and Local Government minister, Parmjit Dhanda at last night’s award ceremony at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.
The Beacon awards recognise excellence and innovation in local government across 10 themes, which are identified as key to improving quality of life for local communities.
Cllr Roy Smith, Executive Board member for community services in Warrington, said:
“The Dignity in Care theme recognises those authorities whose services help to eliminate tolerance of indignity in health and social care services through raising awareness and inspiring people to take action.
“The involvement of service users and carers in the planning and delivery of services is a vital step to securing dignity. Beacon status is testament to the determination and hard work of our staff, who ensure that dignity in care is central to our work.”
Commenting on the awards Parmjit Dhanda said, “I would like to congratulate Warrington for being awarded Beacon status in Dignity in Care. This authority is leading the way in their use of new ideas and methods, and is ideally placed to drive change throughout the sector, helping to improve public services for everyone.
“The most important product of the Beacons is the real improvements to everyday public services that can be seen in the remit of every one of the winning authorities, and the sharing of new ideas and best practice that the Beacons promote will lead to improvement across the board.”
