Bike to school week

CYCLING kids are confident kids, more independent and brainier.

This is the message by the council and Bike for All, as they promote Bike to School Week, 5 – 9 May.

The purpose of the week is to celebrate cycling and to encourage as many children and parents to cycle to school safely and enjoyably.

School children with the support of Warrington’s travel plan team are being encouraged to ride to school. The team encourages children to travel to school by bike, a more sustainable form of transport, in a fun and safer way and reduce congestion outside school gates.

Just 15 minutes cycling to and from school could make a real difference to a child's fitness, establishing habits of healthy activity that could be life-long. Cycling is fun, fast, green and healthy.

To celebrate Bike to School Week, Bewsey Lodge Primary, Dallam Community Primary and Westbrook Old Hall are taking part in a cycle ride around Sankey Valley Park.
