Willkommen, Bienvenue, Welcome!
The market will be taking over Bridge Street, Sankey Street and Horsemarket Street on Thursday 29 May 2008 – Sunday 1 June 2008.
Professional continental market traders from France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Holland and Poland will be wearing traditional costumes and decorating the stalls to represent the region of the country they are visiting from.
They will be selling high quality products including Brittany biscuits, olives, Italian nougat, pungent cheeses, saucissons, Tartiflette from the Alps, charcuterie, fresh breads, croissants and much, much more! For those of you with a sweet tooth, there will also be freshly cooked crepes.
As well as the fine edible goods, you will also be able to choose from a wide range of products including handbags and leather items, Marseilles soaps, lavender, children’s toys and pashminas. There will be something for everyone.
Most of the products on sale will come from the “terroir” (the land) of the stall holder, where they are produced by family businesses, farms or small factories using traditional methods and maintaining a high standard of quality.
Town Centre Manager, Nick White, who organised this year’s market, said “Speciality markets add to the colour and vibrancy of the town as well as increasing the already fantastic retail offer.”
