Recycling
CARD and plastic recycling banks have been removed from the Nelson's Quarter Deck recycling bring site, Birchwood, following complaints from residents.
The complaints the council received were mainly about the noise pollution caused by the machinery that is used to empty the banks.
The decision was made following a full investigation by the councils’ recycling team and environmental health team.
However, glass bottle and can banks are still on the site and have been moved to the other side of the car park away from the residential area.
Residents can still use all the other card and plastic recycling banks at various locations in the area including community recycling centres at Woolston and Gatewarth.
And don’t forget your green bin collection service, which includes grass cuttings, weeds and plants and hedge cuttings, is operating fortnightly during the summer.
