Benefit bus rolls into town

The benefit bus rolls into town next week (2 – 6 June) with the aim of helping more people claim what they are entitled to.

Situated next to the market entrance from Monday to Thursday and then at Birchwood Shopping Mall on the Friday the benefit bus will help people both claim Housing and Council Tax Benefit and check their entitlement.

Boasting state of the art satellite equipment staff the bus will be able to tell customers within seconds of their entitlement.

The bus is part of a Greater Manchester initiative designed to boost take up of Housing and Council Tax Benefit – both of which have low levels of take up nationally.

Last time the bus was in Warrington in April scores of people were offered advice about claiming with one couple in Padgate receiving over £2,000 in backdated benefit.

Adrian Webster, the council’s Benefit Manager said “we believe that hundreds of people in Warrington are missing out on thousands of pounds of unclaimed benefit – we will be using the bus to help as many people as possible”.
