Spreading winter warmth

IT’S just got easier to get a replacement key for pre pay gas meters.

Three new outlets in Warrington are now stocking the replacement keys for gas meters, thanks to the council and Golden Gates Housing joining forces.

Until recently, only one outlet in town sold replacement keys.  Demand quite often exceeded supply, so residents were forced to travel to Newton le Willows for a new key or wait up to a week for one to be posted out to them.

With winter fast approaching, the council and GGH worked together to find new suppliers of the keys, which allow users to pre pay for their energy before use.

The new retailers are:

Phil's Store Uk Ltd, 4 Central Avenue, Orford

The Wills Street Store, 102 Wills Street, Birchwood

Food & Wine, 65 Liverpool Road, Great Sankey

Cllr Sharon Wilson, Executive Board member for services to customers said: “It was a worrying thought for us that with winter on its way, some of our residents may have been left without heat.  This was unacceptable to us and we knew we had to come up with a solution.  Now accessibility should not be a problem.”
