A campaign where less means more!

recycle - bag for lifeTHE upcoming Recycle Week (Monday 22 – Sunday 28 June) is the ideal time to think about the many and often easy ways we can all waste less and make more of the resources we have.

Two-thirds of us in the UK now consider ourselves to be committed recyclers.

Locally 38% of the total household waste in Warrington is now being recycled.

In the past five years over 30 million tonnes of CO2 in the UK has been saved – equivalent to taking a third of our cars off UK roads for a year – so recycling really is making a difference.

Cllr Alan Litton, executive board member for environment said: “From recycling more of our everyday items like glass and plastic bottles, re-using carrier bags or trying out new things like home composting, there’s lots of things we can do to help cut back on the amount of waste we send to landfill and you might even save money in the process.”

ASDA Westbrook is holding two special events on Tuesday 23 and Thursday 25 June, from 10am to 4pm to raise awareness of recycling and help shoppers find out more about the different ways to waste less.
