Credit crunch school lunch!

FROM Monday 15 June until Friday 15 July school dinners in six primaries will be just £1 a day!

St Benedict’s, St Elphin’s, Bruche, Cherry Tree, Sycamore Lane and Woolston Primary Schools will all be taking part in the ‘Credit Crunch Busting Lunch.'  This represents a £19 saving!

The project is being funded by the School Food Trust with the aim to increase take up of school meals.

Cllr Sheila Woodyatt, Executive Board Member for Children’s Services said: “School dinners have come along way from the stereotypical fish fingers, chips and lumpy custard.  Our pupils are now more likely to be served up homemade lasagne, chicken chasseur, turkey curry and fresh fruit salad.

“School meals in Warrington are prepared daily using British and local produce wherever possible and provide two of the five recommended daily portions of fruit and veg a day.  They are enjoyed by thousands of young people every day.”
