Council worker of the year awards

Market manager Steve Pickering has been shortlisted for a national award for his commitment to his job and he needs your vote!

Steve has already beaten off stiff competition to become one of the finalists in the upcoming Council Worker of the Year Awards - for the Local Government Channel.

He has been manager of the busy town centre market for ten years.

Peter Moffatt, Steve’s head of service who nominated him for the award said:

"The reason for this nomination is the consistent dedication Steve has shown to the market, its traders and the council. It is also because of his innovation and his willingness to always go the extra mile.

Specific reasons for his nomination include relentless promotion of the market in the local, regional and national media often in his own time, as well as a strong commitment to seeing the market safely and successfully through the current economic downturn.

Speaking of his nomination Steve said:

"I am of course happy and humbled to be nominated for this award. It's nice that all of the work I do has been recognised in this way and I hope everyone in Warrington gets behind me and votes.

"Winning this award would also give me the opportunity to shout about how great markets are."

It’s now up to the public to decide if local man Steve will take home the trophy. So let's get behind him and give him our votes! Click HERE to vote for Steve.
