The Councils Open Space Review sets out an approach that strives to secure the above objectives. The report details the Council’s approach to how the quantity, quality and accessibility of open space will be assessed to help determine the need for and level of open space provision arising from new development. To achieve this the review identifies a number of standards applicable to a range of well-established open space typologies. The review also details the methodology underpinning these standards and makes clear the process behind their application.
Under the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act, the Council is required to prepare a Local Development Framework (LDF), which will replace most elements of the existing Unitary Development Plan. Following commencement of the relevant sections of the Act in September 2004, the Council has started work on the new Framework.
Interactive Adopted Unitary Development Plan
The Unitary Development Plan (UDP) sets out the Council's town planning policies for guiding development and protecting the environment in the borough of Warrington until the year 2016. The UDP was prepared and progressed through procedures which gave everyone the right to comment on policies and proposals as they evolved.
The UDP was adopted by the Council on 23rd January 2006.
In order to give further advice to applicants, the Council has prepared supplementary planning guidance / documents on a number of topics. These go into more detail than is possible within the Development Plan and aim to explain the Council's requirements.
