Parking Permits
If you live in a designated Resident Parking Zone (RPZ) you need a permit to park your vehicle.
Your permit lets you park in any parking spaces that are reserved for permit holders. These spaces will have special signs as shown below so will be easily recognisable.

Do I qualify for a permit?
You will normally qualify for a permit if you live within the RPZ and keep and use on a full time basis a car or a van (weight restrictions apply) or a motorcycle.
What about my visitors?
Each household can be issued with one visitor's permit that may be used by different visitors at different times. Businesses operating within the RPZ do not qualify for a visitor's permit. You must make sure your visitors display the permit clearly inside their windscreen and don't forget to get the permit back from them when they leave.
Vehicles can now park for longer within the Bank Quay RPZ so visitor permits are no longer issued.
Do I have to pay?
There is no charge for permits at the present time.
What if i'm disabled and have a Blue Badge?
Blue Badge holders cannot park in spaces signed and designated for resident permit holders unless they also have a valid permit for use in that RPZ. If there are areas of limited waiting or yellow lines within the RPZ then the normal rules for Blue Badge holders apply. For further details of the Blue Badge scheme and the entitlements of holders click here.
How do I display my permit?
Whenever you are parking in your RPZ, display your permit in your car windscreen so that it cn be clearly seen from outside your vehicle. Remember that parking attendants patrol RPZs to deter illegal parking and check vehicles have permits.
Do I need to renew my permit?
Yes, permits need to be renewed when they run out. We will send you a reminder before this happens and tell you how to do it. Permits are valid for different lengths of times. You also need to renew your permit if you change your vehicle. We will need to see new documents and your old permit.
What happens if my permit is stolen?
If your permit is stolen please report it to the police and you will be given a crime reference number. Let us know this number and we will replace your permit free of charge. Lost permits can be replaced for a £10 administration charge.
Can my permit be withdrawn?
Yes, a permit may be withdrawn if it is not being used correctly, if you are no longer eligible to hold it or if the permit has been defaced or altered.
