Permits and dispensations for parking
Parking permits
If you live in a residential area that is designated as a Resident Parking Zone (RPZ) you will need a permit to park your vehicle. RPZs are provided in residential areas where parking from nearby businesses, sporting arenas or shopping areas may stop residents from parking close to their houses.
If you don't have a permit and park in the designated area you may be given a parking ticket or 'Penalty Charge Notice'.

Parking dispensations
Under special circumstances you can apply to park on a parking restriction, in a residents parking zone, on a pay and display car park or in limited waiting areas. There is a fee of £15 per vehicle per day. Circumstances may include moving house or vehicles associated with building works for example.
A dispensation will only be issued if it does not cause traffic congestion or impinge on the safety and welfare of pedestrians. The need for the dispensation will be assessed based on the details of the work being undertaken, the exact location and the dates and times when the waiver is required.
Please give as much notice as possible when applying for a dispensation, preferably two weeks but an absolute minimum of 2 working days.
There are a number of ways to apply for a dispensation:
- Download the application form
- Apply in writing to:
Warrington Borough Council Parking Facilities Unit

- e-mail np.warrington@apcoa.co.uk
- Visit the Enquiries and Payments Office (6th Floor Market Multi Storey Car Park - address as above) and make the application in person. However, a decision regarding the dispensation will not be made immediately as the application needs to be assessed.
