St Katherine's Children's Centre
St Katherine’s Children’s Centre is a residential home in Warrington that comprises of two houses that can each accommodate four young people.
The service is registered with Ofsted and each house can look after up to four young people, either sex, aged 8 to 16 years. The service is staffed 24 hours a day and management support is always available through an ‘on-call’ system.
Who are the young people?
The young people will have been assessed as needing a period of stability due to being unable to live within their own or substitute families. The majority of our young people have a history of difficult and challenging behaviour and have experienced abuse, abandonment or neglect within their birth families. They often have low self-esteem and difficulties with anger management and establishing and maintaining relationships.
The service aims to provide a nurturing environment where young people are protected from further abuse and rejection. We are clear that each individual young person is our focus. We aim to stabilise and empower each young person within a safe and supportive environment and we challenge concerning behaviour in a sensitive and consistent manner.
Who works at St Katherine’s Children’s Centre?
Each member of staff is dedicated to the welfare of the children and young people in their care. All the staff are qualified and have skills and experience in dealing with people who have emotional and behavioural difficulties. Staff undertake ongoing training programmes.
The Management Team consists of a Team Manager, a Group Leader and four Senior Residential Care Workers who are responsible for the day to day running of the Centre. There are also a number of Residential Care Workers, plus a team secretary, a handy person/gardener, a chef and a general assistant.
