Staff at the Respite Centre

There are over 30 people who work at the Respite Centre.  A team manager is responsible for the day to day running of Ross Close and the number of staff present on any day depends on how many children are staying at the time and what their needs are.

During the night, a staff member stays awake in case a child wakes up and needs assistance.  There is always an extra person sleeping in the centre who can offer support to the waking staff member if needed.

If Ross Close staff need any assistance during out of office hours, there is always an on-call children’s services manager who can deal with any urgent issues.

Keyworkers
Each child who stays at the Respite Centre will be given a ‘key worker’ who can help parents with the care plan for their child.  Parents must tell the key worker if their child needs any specialist equipment and if their needs change at any time.

  • The key worker will explain to the family such things as the medication policy and the procedures for transferring medication, clothing and children’s personal items to and from the Respite Centre.
  • The key worker will also ask the family about any special dietary needs or religious and cultural needs their child might have as well any specialist equipment they require.  The key worker will then use this information to prepare a good care plan.

If a parent wants to make any changes to their child’s care plan or wants to arrange additional stays for their child at the Respite Centre, they must contact their keyworker.

All bookings at Ross Close will be arranged through a Social Worker.
