Additional Support for children with Special Educational Needs
The Local Authority provides additional supported places at Sandy Lane Nursery School and Dallam Nursery for children with a previously recognised Special Educational Need – usually those who have already attended Sunshine Assessment Nursery. Additional staff are available there so that all children can be included in the full range of Nursery activities.
The Local Authority also provide a specialist Class at Sandy Lane Children’s centre known as Rainbow Nursery for those children whose needs are more complex and who would benefit from a smaller environment.
A small and limited budget – Pre-school Support Plus is available to enable children with the most complex needs to attend local pre-school settings where more than ‘reasonable’ adjustments would be required.
