Warrington's Children and Young People's Trust

Warrington Partnership LogoWarrington's Children and Young People's Trust was established on 1 April 2008 building on from the earlier work of Warrington's Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership.

The trust is a local partnership that brings together the organisations responsible for services for children, young people and families to make joint decisions about how services should be designed and delivered.

The trust's vision is that every child and young person in Warrington has the opportunity to reach their potential.  That means providing opportunities for all, with co-ordinated, responsive, preventative and targeted services for those who might otherwise miss those opportunities.

The Children and Young People's Trust represents the whole range of services for children and young people covering the work of partner agencies at every level, from the development of overall strategy to the delivery of front-line services. The Children and Young People's Trust is now a statutory requirement, partners still retain their own responsibilities while working together to join-up services.

The trust is responsible for the production and delivery of a local Children and Young People's Plan – a single, strategic, over-arching plan for children and young people in the borough. The 2009-2011 Children and Young People's Plan outlines the trust's strategic priorities that will be further developed and driven by multi-agency outcome groups created to reflect the national 'Every Child Matters' priorities. Further details about the purpose and work of the trust's outcome groups are available for your information.

The structure of the trust also shows its responsibility as a thematic group of the Warrington Partnership (Local Strategic Partnership (LSP)) and its relationship to the Warrington Safeguarding Children Board.

Membership of the trust board is made up from all key organisations, including the community and voluntary sector.

Terms of reference have been set for the operation of the board that will oversee this work.

The structure of the trust reflects the 'Every Child Matters' priority outcomes for children and young people.  The trust will draw on the expertise and commitment of many people who work to support children and families through the Every Child Matters outcome groups.

To support inter-agency working, the trust has also set up a common processes group that will address obstacles that hinder closer working between services.
