Children & Young People Plan Priority Project Groups

Areas of service provision identified as key priorities within the CYPP, may warrant the establishment of a dedicated project group to work alongside the Outcome Groups.

Intended to be time-limited, these groups will focus on exploring the changes – structural, managerial, operational or financial – needed to bring about the improvement in outcomes for a particular group of service users, identified in the CYPP.

Each CYPP project group will:

a) be overseen by one of the permanent outcome groups
b) adopt a formal project management approach to its work, agreeing a clear scope with the Board before commencing
c) be consultative, ensuring that opinions of children, young people and families strongly influence any proposals for action that result from this work.  Contributions will also be sought from practitioners presently working in the area under consideration
d) will work within the context of the annual review of the CYPP
e) ensure that any proposals for changes to service delivery demonstrate a clear case that outcomes for children and/or young people will improve as a result of the actions proposed.

The service areas identified as CYPP priority outcome groups in 2008-09, together with their designated lead officers, are:

Looked after children (LAC)

David Johnston, Head of Service for Safeguarding

Disabled children Pinaki Ghoshal, Head of Service School Improvement and Inclusion
Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS)David Johnston, Head of Service for Safeguarding

Note: The Integrated Youth Support Service (IYSS) priority group is no longer required as the service is now established and will be fully operational from April 2009.
