Can I Adopt a Baby?
Throughout the UK, there are very few babies or very young children available for adoption and the situation is no different in Warrington.
Most children needing a new family come through the care system. These days it is very rare for parents to place their babies for adoption and so the number of very young children available is extremely small.
The average age of an adopted child in England and Wales is about 4 years, 5 months.
Babies for adoption in Warrington
Despite their young age, those children who need adoptive families often have specific needs or complicated circumstances.
For example, many babies who need an adoptive family:
- Are born addicted to drugs
- Have difficulties due to their parents misuse of alcohol
- Have a birth family with a history of mental health problems
- Are from an ethnic minority background
- Have brothers and sisters they need to be adopted with
If you can only consider adopting a baby or very young child we are not currently able to accept your adoption application.
At the present time, Warrington does not have babies or young people without complex needs who require an adoptive family. If you can only consider adopting a baby or very young child, unfortunately, we are not able to accept an application from you at this time. Although we constantly review the situation, it is unlikely to change within the forseeable future.
