Welcome to Warrington Families Information Service

In March 2008, Warrington Children's Information Service changed its name to the Families Information Service. This is to reflect new duties placed on local authorities under The Childcare Act 2006, to provide information, advice and guidance on childcare and a range of services for children aged 0-20 and their families.

Families Information Service Logo

We recognise that childcare is an extremely important part of a working parents life. We know that you need reliable, affordable, local childcare and knowledge of where to find it.

If after reading this website you have any questions or you need more information, please contact the Warrington Families Information Service or visit www.childcarelink.gov.uk

Childcare is divided into two categories:

Registered childcare
This includes playgroups, day nurseries, childminders, home childcarers, out of school clubs and crèches.  Ofsted are responsible for the registration and inspection of these facilites for children under 8 years old.

Unregistered childcare
This includes carer and toddler groups, nannies and babysitters.  There are no regulations or inspection of these.  This can be because their sessions are not long enough to require registration or because parents stay with their child.
